Is this the best commercial ever?

I found this commercial to be brilliant on every level. It tells a great story, the nuanced looks and expressions of the actresses are priceless, it’s memorable, and it’s HILARIOUS. This is a work of art and there is no doubt it had to be shared with the {grow} community!

What are your thoughts?  What would you name as your all-time favorite commercial of this or any other year?

  • You’re absolutely right. It’s brilliant on all levels. The general cloistered ambiance and subtlety of expression plays sets up the “sticky” situation perfectly. Will definitely be sharing this. Thanks. Mark.

  • That’s pretty good. Nice find!

  • I don’t care what year this was. It is a GREAT SPOT!

  • I LOVE this one. I remember seeing it. So good. One of my favorites is volkswagon Star Wars ad from the Super Bowl this year. It was just so charming and enjoyable to watch. Much like this one, it was brilliant because it told a STORY. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw it.

  • Advertising, marketing, PR-all of it is moving towards humor to break through the clutter. Great example of how a funny idea can be applied to even the most mundane of products, too many companies assume that particular ideas cannot be applied to them, that is it not relevant. Not at all true! I particularly like a special valentine gift from Cisco, funny and simply done for a techie, “non-funny” product!

I’m a huge fan of the Pepsi vs. Coke commercial that played during the Superbowl a few years ago:

  • The best commercials are those that tell a complete story in which the advertised thing (product/service) is woven in so cleanly that,  you could argue the story is NOT about the product.

I would argue that the Rubber Cement ad is right up there with the all time greats. Great timing, as I just wrote about good and bad advertising:

    Hi Mark!

  • As you know, I am banking minded. So here is one of my favorites

    Kind regards from Germany

  • This is great! I can’t imagine it being aired in the US, but the ad is very memorable, not just for the humor but also for the product. Well done.

What came first, This commercial or Goonies?

I agree, it is a great commercial.  After viewing it twice on Friday, and thinking about it, I returned to it today.  What I remember:  (1) glue, (2) nun pointing penis up and then begging forgiveness.  I didn’t remember the name of the company.  Maybe one doesn’t need to.

The ending was a bit risque for me, I wouldn’t post a link to it off my blog.  No wait, I did.

My favorite is the Budweiser 9/11 video not a word spoken  in that one either shares incredible respect, was not about product but said so much about how the company felt post 9/11. As a horse owner I know the magnitude of working with these animals and kudos to the Bud trainers for consistantly putting out a world class icon!
