Tapping into the pulse of social media in Asia

christel quekAs I travel around the world, one of the things I find remarkable is how radically different the use of social media can be in different countries. Perhaps there is no more complex landscape to consider than the use of social media in Asia.

Luckily I have a friend who can help us sort it out.

One of the most interesting and inspiring young marketing professionals I have met through Twitter is Christel Quek. Over the years it has been fun to follow her progress and I recently had the chance to meet her for the first time, shortly after she started a new business development job in Asia for Twitter.

There are few people in the world more tapped into the Asian social media scene than Christel so this was a good opportunity to learn from her — what’s hot, what’s happening, and what is it like to work for Twitter?

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch this short interview as we explore …

Twitter’s secret tools

The hottest Asian social media trends – micro social networks

Be sure to follow Christel and her adventures on Twitter.

Love the video and discussion with Christel. Will share with my internal and external buddies. I like the emphasis on sharing the most human stories – not something I think of with twitter – highlighting the human side of things. Nice interview on both sides of the camera! 🙂 Look forward to connecting and following Christel.

I’m jealous you got to meet and interview Christel. One of my fav people. I’ve seen her mature on Twitter. I hope to meet her one day. 🙂

  • She’s awesome. This surprised me about her — she’s TOUGH. I’d hire her in a minute. Super talented.

  • You’ll enjoy getting to know her!

  • Thank you Maureen for guiding me here. Asia has a lot of growth potential in sheer numbers and content potential. I am eager and excited to see/know more as Christel takes on. Cheers.

I like the list. The topic are so helpful that it made me think of
creating a blog about myself, even though personally I don’t know how to
    create one.
